The cowboy way…
This was actually more fresh than I thought it would be. And don’t let the album cover fool you, this is Italian stoner/southern metal with fat guitar riffing in the veins of Zakk Wylde. The opening track “Old blood” had me running to my extensive walk-in-closet looking for my cowboy boots with a frantic look in my face. I didn’t find them… which is for the best when I think about it, I have a tendency to have the look of a glam-metal gaylord in heels, most probably because of my sexy long legs and that sweet ass.
I guess that Zakk Wylde is the ruling inspiration in the household of singer/guitarist H.M. Outlaw (cool name bro…) and the songs are filled to the brim of Black Label Society guitar squeals. But he pulls it off quite well and the album have a few tunes that would work rather well at your summer BBQ’s while you are roasting a few baby pigs and pouring a couple of ice-cold brewskis. Especially if you are into this kind of metal, which I’m not, but I can at least hear the potential. Even the usage of the dreaded banjo works, both the opening track and the title track uses it with good result. Standout tracks: The first three tracks “Old blood”, “Acid overlord” and “Graveyard blues”. And they coulda lost the cover of “Mississippi queen”, if you know what I mean?
5/10: This town ain’t big enough for two Zakk Wyldes.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
